You've heard of unconscious bias. Did you know it can accidentally screw up digital products?

Issues of bias in AI and data are well known. But unintentional bias about a user’s social group can emerge at any point along the design process…and we usually don’t notice it!

Research shows that even the most popular digital health tools are not consistently usable for diverse patients. This is especially problematic in light of social inequalities. Low-income, racially or ethnically diverse populations bear a disproportionate burden of chronic disease.

If you care about this, I want to hear from you.

Come to this session if you’re a designer, engineer, business developer, sales or marketing pro, who cares about equity in access. You'll be helping me understand the problems and concerns you have. And you’ll learn about:
·        one specific kind of bias we all have
·        how it tends to show up and why it can be harmful
·        how you can begin to notice it in your work.

Bring your questions. Because I’ve taught many groups about how bias hides in ordinary routines, terms, and processes...but I want to know what’s bugging YOU, digital pros.

Your input is important. I’m designing a new course to teach digital pros about how to address bias. Your questions and concerns are what really matters. Whether you’re an expert or beginner, I’d love to hear your questions, and share what I know about addressing bias as professionals.
